Default Need help installing gauges in 1998 coupe V6

Hey guys, was googling for some answers on installing some gauges and found a thread that was somewhat helpful

Though it talks about a 1996 stang...

These are the gauges I am trying to install

-Mustang White Face Reverse Glow Gauges (94-98 V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I have read through the install guide included with the purchase as well as the online one here

-How to Install Mustang Gauge Inserts

but wasn't able to get them working.

The guides say the positive lead (red wire) connects to the middle wire (big grey wire) on the headlight control. Then the negative lead (black wire) goes to the black.

The thing is that my headlights control unit has a big brown wire in the middle, not a grey. So I wired the red to the brown and the black to a black/orange on the control unit. Reconnected battery but only the needles light up not the gauges...

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'll up some pics tomorrow ASAP

you would be better off finding the power wire for the light switch and grounding the black wire to an alternate ground screw. mine work perfectly in my 95 and it took me about 35 minutes to install.

hit me up on my page and i will guide you through it. its very simple. i thought it wouldve been harder but i wasnt.
