i would go with the gears and t-lok, but get the handheld tuner also. it will help with calibrating your gears. i will be doing the same thing as soon as the winter is over. you will get much more acceleration with gears in my opinion. the underdrive pulley might give you about lets say 10 hp, which you prolly might not even feel. The gears, t-lok, AND tuner will let you feel like your driving a faster car.

Just my 2 cents

haha, and I'm glad to see that people are actually running the exhaust setup that I originally had. Being a guinea pig ftmfw

but yeah, gears & t-lok + install will be around $1000 all said and done.

I recommend rebuilding the rear while you've got the gears and tlok out like I did. Here's what I replaced everything with.

Ratech 7.5 Rebuild Kit $75
Detroit TruTrac -$450
FRPP 4.10 Gears -$125 (ebay ftw; brand new too)
Shop Labor -$480

UDP's can be had anywhere from $80-$200... I'd go with ASP pullies myself, that's what I have and I love it.

If you go with a tuner, head on over to brenspeed.com, Brent creates incredible tunes and sells the X-Cal2 or 3 for an excellent price. Otherwise hit up ebay or mustang forums for an x-cal2 or 3, but make sure it's unlocked, especially if you buy off of ebay, make sure the seller guarantees it unlocked.

It's really up to you though because all are excellent bolt-on mods, they all provide some sort of gain

i would not even attempt to do gears myself and I built my motor myself. They are just not something that can be taken likely. Gear lash needs to be perfect, etc.

ok so a differential is not too hard to deal with correct? so roughly how much shop labor would i expect to pay for the gears?

You could install a t-lock yourself. It is much easier to do than you think. You just need new carrier bearings, or have your old ones pressed off and installed on your new t-lock......

It's about 5 hours worth of labor for gears. so multiply whatever shops hourly rate is, $20 for fluids, and $12 for friction modifier.
