Good quick write-up kid. You could tell we do this in our sleep. Just a couple things to remember:

1. The brake brackets need to come off so you can pull out the axles. (15mm)
2. The pin bolt is 8mm and you need to remove it so you can push the axles in to remove the c-clips.
3.When you are removing the stock differential and taking off the end caps, everything needs to go back into the same exact spot ass they came out. This will include any/all shims. Torque down the end caps to 75ftlbs.
4. You need to take your stock ring gear off of your old differential. Remove the 10 bolts and tap the ring gear with a hammer. Do not be afraid to break it, go around it with the hammer.
5. When sliding your new ring gear on the new t-lock, make sure it is all the way up once you tighten all the bolts. Go to the opposite side bolt when tightening.(180 degrees)
6. The only other sticky part is removing the old bearings off of the carrier and installing them on your t-lock. That has to be done with a bearing press. It will probably cost you about 20 bucks to have a local mom and pop shop do it for you.

It's not really that complicated. I would give this a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1-10. Take your time, makes sure the parts go back in the same order they came out, fill it up with fluid and friction modifier and you're all set.......

A t-lock install and a gearset install are 2 different creatures. I would not suggest a gear install to anyone who has not ever done them and without the proper tools.

We did a t-lock install writeup because some do not want to change their gears, just install a t-lock......

O i'm not a mechanic by any means. I can handle some of the simple to moderate projects but I would definitely leave this one to a professional. So if I let someone else do it which gears should I go with 3.73 or 4.10? Thanks.

I would suggest looking through the threads. 373's for stick, 410's for auto.....

quick question. on my car when i do a burnout i do a basic neutral drop because its an auto. well, i have no problems at all spinning both wheels and creating a hell of a lot of smoke as long as i do the neutral drop, and i dont even rev it about three grand to do it. but ive never installed a tlok, and the guy who had it before me never did either. am i just lucky, or is it possible to do a two wheel with a stock v6. though, when i do a burn out on takeoff, it is just one wheel spinning most of the time. also, i read somewhere that you are very lucky if your v6 came with a rear sway bar, and mine definitely has one. i found that out when i was replacing the rear axle last year cuz i was driving and hit a curb and bent the **** out of it and my pretty bullit rim.

94 and 95's came with a rear sway bar from the factory. You still have an open differential if you are spinning one tire. Neutral drops are dangerous for your tranny.......

the absolute cheapest way to make both tires spin, but not something many people would recommend outside of south dakota, is to weld the spider gears to the side gears. you will experience increased tire wear and a difficulty turning, but it will make for a good burnout. just hope the weld holds.

One of the cheapest ways is if you could find a rear end off of a gt, just slap that on your car and you will have positrac. My friend and i found one for 400 with the rotors calipers and all. It took us about 3 hours to drop the old one and install the new one. We went from a 7.5 to a 8.8 with a slight difference in the gear. Like i said if you could find a rear end thats your best bet.
