It's not cheap everywhere. Gonna run you $700+ to get a used rear in Canada, usually more. I got a slightly used Auburn LSD for $100 and with the cost of a gasket and oil/friction modified I got mine in for under $150.

Does anyone know the gear ratios for the 99-04 GT rearends? I think my 2003 V6 is 3.27 and for speedo-sake was wondering if the GTs had a similar gear.

Did the GTs have the 3.27 as an option on the 8.8s? I was thinking it would be cheaper to buy a used rearend since it is a basic bolt-in swap than to have the t-loc put in.

That was standard in the 99+ GT's. 3:08's in the pre-99's.....

Default Adding trac-lok to your differential

Had mine done last year after reading a bunch of these posts.
There is nothing easy about doing it yourself. You need help from
someone with differential experience. I chose the FRCC because it
was the best. It cost me $199.95 shipped, and I had a local drivetrain shop (with years of experience) install it in about 1 hour
for the cost of $150. Depends on what area the country you're in
for the labor charge. But the other guys who responded with changing the gears at the same time are correct. Much better deal.
I stuck with the stock 3:31's.

Ill tell you this... If you plan on goin for big power save some time and just swap out your rear for an 8.8. I made that mistake, installed gears, and tlok in my old 7.5. I drove it for 5 months, and then started on the turbo project. So i needed to upgrade rears. Pretty much wasted all that money on my rear.
Remember to get the friction modifier, and i believe the gear oil is 75w140. But dont quote me on that
when i put the tloc in mine, i just went to ford and asked what lube. they told me just what he said, dont forget the friction modifier!

I was looking at gears for my v6 and wanted to know what gears to use to beat the tuners that keep trying to show off. I was thinking 3.73. Am I right?
