i have an sct tune on my car which allows it to rev a lil higher and wanted to know what rpm would be the best to shift at that gives you greater track times and is also safe on the car
5,700 should be fine. Remember to power shift, not granny shift......
Please define the difference between the two. I'm thinking power shifting is not letting your foot off the floor in between shifts. If your not a good stick driver could be dangerous!

granny shifts hold in the clutch for way way way too long
let off the clutch right as you slam that gear in place.
god i love the feeling of being thrown into your seat.
Stang93 had it. You keep your gas on the floor and quick shifts without letting up. Quick clutch footwork too. It cuts alot of time off when you do it properly. It is easier to do with short throw shifters because of the stops. 2-3 is always difficult, but I've found you need to keep your elbow against your body and it makes it easier because the angle is better. Another racing tip from the "House of Shiner."
Thanks for all the tips guys so im kinda confused on the whole valve thing do i wanna get springs and rockers or am i fine right now going to 5700 with stock internals

dieselmonkey, When does yours shift, I had the same question. I think mine shifts at 5,500 a little past where red line starts but I have an auto. Do you shift there? and i have a sct tune

idk i guess i'm wrong but all i know is most factory based parts aren't made for revs close to red line. and obviously your "aftermarket" racing internals will deff let you rev higher. for another example. my friend has a 89 toyota supra single turbo. he put some kind of high rev valves, springs, and lifters (since its an inline 6) and just for safety put a lighter flywheel and a more heavy duty clutch on.
stock redline was 7,200. now he redlines at 11,000. out of everything he spent 1600 dollars. that thing sounds like a freakin jet when it takes off.
BUT
if you got forced induction on your stang and do what he did and your pushin around 8000-9000rpm (maybe idk i use to drive tuners alot so i'm not for sure about the range) be sure to reinforce your heads, gaskets and everything else. he didnt have a boost controller when he first did it and his heads smashed to smithereens. haha he was pushing like 27-30 psi. plus his turbo melted but thats kinda obvious.

Uh, how did this rambling help or answer anything?
i have a manual tranny so i tell it when to shift sorry if i didnt make that clear and i have a performance tune on my car which allows it to rev higher than stock and i just wanted to know what was the best rpm to shift at to produce the best times

i know you have a manual...i wouldnt be talking about a clutch and flywheel if it was automatic. i'm just sayin the possiblities of your car. sorry i like my ride to be fast.
i guess if you wanna rip out your internals sure shift at 5700, doesnt matter to me.
