I have 17x9 inch rims with 275/40/17 tires
your footprint is 165 millimeters.

the way you can figure that is multiply your overall distance around the tire (bead to bead) by your aspect ratio, and subtract that number from your overall distance and you have your footprint.
say you have a 245/45/17 tire, do 245 x 0.45, you get 110.25, subtract 110.25 from 245 and you get 134.75
a 245/45/17 tire has a footprint of 134.75mm
rims dont have footprints unless you roll them bare lol

if your stang is stock/near stock, 315's are overkill and will be more rolling resistance and more weight. in other words they'll slow you down.

if your looking for a staggered look i suggest going with (4) 17x9 wheels and running 245/45/17 in the front and 275/40/17

you say your stang has 17's on it already, or am i misreading that...? what is the tire size on your car right now? look on the sidewall of the tire
ok that makes sense thank you so much for your suggestions and help. and come to think of it they might be 16" stock haha ive been looking at rims for so long i forgot there was such thing as 16's

post a pic of your rim and we'll tell you what size your rims are.

take a look at the factory 17" GT rims on 99-00 models, they are pretty light, can fit a decently wide tire, and IMHO would look great on your car. not to mention you can find them for pretty cheap.

Default Final, maybe?

ok after reading all of your comments and doing a little math i think this should be right?

Black Deep Dish 2003 Cobra Style Wheel 94-04 (17x9) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
$129.99 Each x 4
This style rim would look really good.

NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial (275/40-17) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
these would be the tires for the rear.
$170.00 each x 2
NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire (245/45-17) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
these would be the tires for the front.
$122.00 each x 2
total=$1103.96+tax

would this affect my speed-o-meter? and are these good to the point were no damage would be done to the car?

ok im still rethinking about the 315's
AmericanMuscle.com - Customer Images - View
i was told that they cause alot of drag and weight, but i still like how they look..... im not really looking for performance just the look
so im still concidering the:
NITTO Extreme Performance NT555R Drag Radial (315/35-17) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
and
NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 Tire (245/45-17) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

315's would look awesome, but they're not practical because, for one, the stock V6 doesnt need that much traction, they are heavy, they increase your rolling resistance, and they're expensive.
the 275's on the rear look great. imho.
