ok im a 16 year old kid. and i got a mustang for my 16th birthday... i currently have stock wheels n tires on it. I would like to put bigger tires on the back. A friend of mine said i have 17" x 9.5" tires right now, and suggests that i get 18" x 10.5" tires. i've searched the internet and cannot find anything like that.
Is it possible for anyone to post a link or some kind of way to find tires for my car, Much appreciated

ok, someone gave you horse-sh** for information.
firstly, you cannot put an 18-inch tire on a 17 inch rim.
secondly, your rims are 15x7 and will not fit a 17 or 18 inch tire.
3rdly, 17x9 & 18x10.5 are the size of the rim, not the tire.
and lastly, your tire size is 205/65/15
if your stock or close to stock, and looking for more traction, i recommend keeping your stock wheels/tires for now and installing a t-lock.
if you really want some wider tires on your stock 15" wheels, you can put 225/60/15 on the rear, theyre a little bit wider, i did that for a little while and they looked ok.

umm... currently on my car seem like stock rims for the 2000 v6 mustang. The previous owner payed for 3 new tires and there is still one old one one it. We are waiting until we can find out what we need for the front wheels are stock and the rear ones are bigger and stick out some. From my small understanding with my stang the bigger wheels/Tires will improve my traction in the rear and add a really nice appearance. I would have to go and find my booklet somewhere to find the exact mesurements for what i have, but im pretty sure its all stock. The only thing ive done to it is put on all of the decals with my dad over the last winter break from school.

open up your glovebox, your tire size will be listed there. if your avatar pic is accurate, then it looks like you have the same wheels as me when i had my stock wheels, and the tire size is 205/65/15.
if you want to upgrade wheels/tires, look around for some wheels you like, post the link, and we'll give a recommended tire size for those wheels.
Maybe I am reading this wrong but, Why can't he just look at the sidewall of the tire and see what size the tire is? Or you can take the rim off of the car and the size is generally printed on the rim if you are confused. Maybe I read this thread wrong though. lmao

I know that it will be a while until i can get these wheels and the tires. Im sorry for being repetative but just a reminder, im looking for taller and wider tires in the back and average sized tires in the front.

are there ways to still get the wide tire and not have these effects?

Well normaly that would probably have worked, but im a highschool student who knows alot less than most kids do about cars. So the weekend is the only time i can actualy do stuff. Also most of the time i can only get to my computer around 9pm each day so i cant go outside to check things right away.
Your best bet would be to get a decently wide rim that will support wide tires. If you throw wide tires on a small rim then you will start to feel what they are talking about in that little article you found.
205/65/15 tires have a footprint of 71.75mm
225/60/15 tires have a footprint of 90.00mm
thats not enough of a difference to cause any of the issues mentioned, especially if the tires are on the rear. i've done it with no problems. thats just a cheap way,i agree the best thing you could do would be to buy some wheels that fit a larger tire, even some GT take-offs would be great

I am assuming you actually have 16 inch rims if the rims are in fact stock. My car came with 16s from the factory and then i put on the 17's. I have 9 inch wide rims on my car right now. Having a 9 inch rim makes the tire footprint about 10 or so inches wide in guessing. Don't get too large of a rim or your car's wheels will be too heavy and it will slow it down. Ill attach a picture of the rear end if i can.
I have 17x9 inch rims with 275/40/17 tires

In the first pic i had a nasty scratch on my bumper that is fixed in the second pic. Also, the dual exhaust looks so much cooler haha. As you can see, the 9 inch wide rims make it look pretty beefy in the rear. You will get better grip but you wont need too much with only stock HP and Torque.
