Exclamation Wheel Hub Bearing Torque Spec?

I've got a 1995 Mustang v6. I was wondering what the torque spec for the front wheel hub bearing retainer nut is? Where you found it and does the retainer nut have to be replaced every time?

Reason I am asking, I asked the ford dealer (2 different people) and they say snug the nut then 1/4 turn and back up 1/8th turn and thats it. Then I found a manual online that says something like 256 or 258ft/lbs. This sounds like a tremendous amount. Napa says if it's too tight it will crush the bearing thus ruining the new hub. Ford hasn't said anything about replacing the retainer nut. Is this a must? and Any reason to why?

The method of turning it a certain amount and then backing off is how you would do the older foxbodies that have the bearings in the brake rotor. They also use a cotter pin to keep the nut from backing out.

The 94-04 cars have a bearing hub that bolts to the spindle, and that ******* is tight. The 250+ ft/lbs. is correct. I think your supposed to use a new retaining nut.
