Default Tune up questions

Hey everyone!

My friend just bought a '98 six shooter, so I went to his house and checked out the engine to make sure everything was good.
When I pulled the plugs I believe he had Autolite Platinum plugs in there and they were very white... He needs new plugs and an air filter. So I was wondering what is a good stock plug to use (part number). He doesn't need anything special just what was meant to be in there. Something like Motorcraft or Autolite.
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I think you might be missing a zero in there somewhere. It's .052-.056

I use autolites in everything. Plugs being white means they are usually running hot. Maybe try going to a colder plug.

Hey, another fellow Normanian!

LoL. Half an inch does seem like a little much.
I got what he was saying though.

Not necessarily: high-end materials (platinum, iridium, etc) are just to improve the life of the plugs. How a plug is designed determines its "heat" range.

As for the plugs, I use Bosch +4 gapped at .054 (I think... =p)

I just use motorcraft plugs and wires. They seem to work fine for me.

Are sure that you needed to gap them? maybe that's why people say it sucks cuz they don't need to be gapped, cuz when I bought mines I call autozone and first they told me yes, then I check the box and it said no, then I call again and they told me sorry that they don't need to be gapped....

I don't care if the box says they come pre gapped or not. It's always good to make sure. Better safe then sorry.

^ I was talking about ALL spark plugs wether they come pre gapped or not. Lol, I wasn't attacking you or what you said. I'm just saying it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to spark plug gaps. Just take 5 minutes and make sure they are gapped properly. People and manufacturers make mistakes sometimes.

You don't need to gap them, but they do need to be properly gapped to match your application/car... so it's good to check.

And that applies to all plugs...

Big Daddy's Stang: Sorry for the confusion. The only reason I listed the gap of .054 was to support the other person that listed that gap. They came pre-set to that, so i didn't have to change anything.

rfcsoulja: Yeah, you can use either plug. I originally picked the Bosch cuz I thought they added power (I was new to modding, I'll admit it! ). But, now I know they'll last cuz of the platinum! Ironically, I am using Motorcraft wires...
