Sorry Flex, didn't have anything to say yet... they sound interesting, but not sure if they are worth the money and work to install them. It doesn't sound like you get a lot of performance for the price.

I am interesting in buying it, I did look at the spacers before but i didn't have any dyno's to look at. I think I'll go ahead and dyno one of my stangs before I install it and after. I think I can install those in less than a hour since I am used to take off the upper intake for my port and polish work. The increase in torque in the entire torque curve intrests me alot.

Ron, keep in mind that the piece Extreme dyno'd costs $60. So 6 hp and 7+ tq is better than a set of underdrives.

Silver,
One of the guys from 3.8 Mustang did a back to back last year and posted 14 tq on a 99. I am trying to get more tests and also with the 1/2" to see if more power can be squeezed with thicker spacers.

Flex, then that does sound like a good upgrade to do. Good work, keep the info coming.

Well I am very interested in testing the spacers out, now how do I get my hands on the spacers, and is there a 3/4th inch and 1inch versions?
I wouldn't mind running a bunch of back to back dyno's.

Currently, I am the only producer of the split port spacers. I sell to board members via email or PM.

I have not gone over 1/2" for several reasons.

First, the material cost is more than double the 1/2" at about $1300.

Second, tests on tall spacers for other motors have shown that hp can actually be lost. A very tall spacer, like the 1" used to clear tall valve covers for 5.0's, artificially shortens the power band limiting rpm and in effect reduces hp.

Whether or not this data from 21" 5.0 manifolds applies to the shorter 12-14" runners of the 3.8 is uncertain.

I would test increased thickness by stacking two smaller spacers before I would consider outlaying that much money for material that may turn out to be useless.

Hot dog that's some coinage.......... just about how hot do you think the intake gets?

I tested my own singleport before and after with a Raytech Infrared Thermometer in March.

The lower was at about 170*F. Without the spacers, this heat transmitted to the upper with temperature variance from 170*F immediately adjacent to the lower to around 150*F near the top of the Intake. This even eventually worked its way to the air Inlet and airbox as well. Temperatures measured about 80*F near the TB.

With the spacers now installed, temperatures varied from 70*F to 77*F (after driving in stop and go traffic..cooler on the highway)) with the TB now at about 45*F. Temperature of the Inlet tube was at 37*F idling on the driveway.

I can drive the car in town, get home pop the hood and hold my hand on the Intake indefinitely. try that stock and I guarantee you'll have a crispy hand.

I can now say I am officially interested in those spacers.... Now I need to consult my financial consultant and see if she will allow me to exceed my budget and practice Reaganomics.

One more question... can they handle 11-16psi of boost?
Actually I have another question, does it come with longer intake bolts?

To my knowledge, the have never been installed on a boosted motor. The material does have a military grade specification and is resin impregnated with glass. It is harder than aluminum and needs to be cut with special bimetal blades.

Due to the extreme cost of the material, it is hard for me to include items like bolts. They are expensive in themselves as they are not common and add considerable cost to shipping (double or more).

Here is the price list for the 99+ split port 3.8.

In 3/8", the TB is $30 and the Intake is $100 or $120 for the set.

In 1/2", the TB is $40 and the Intake is $135 or $165 for the set.

The 1/2" Intake does require longer fasteners. I supply those for $15 or $20 with extra thick zinc washers.

Sets can also be ordered with 1 spacer 3/8" and the other 1/2".

All 4 gaskets are $25 and a modified linkage bracket for the 3/8" is $20 if you do not wish to mod your own. For the 1/2", an adapter is supplied for the same cost.

Prices include shipping and longer TB bolts. The exception being a $10 charge on a 1/2" set with all the bolts. The extreme weight doubles shipping cost. I ship Express Post which is a 3-5 working day service.
