Are you sure your radiator is not clogged? You can also have a collapsed hose. They can peel from the inside and not show on the outside. If you did the hg is not on right, you will experience problems with the water passages. A lower intake gasket could be the culprit as well.

Sorry guys, but I've been busy tuning the car. No numbers yet......

You can put them on upside down and block off a coolant port.

I am pretty positive that i put the head gaskets on correctly. I attached to pics 1 of the head gasket and one of the engine. the exact way the gasket is in the pic would set right onto the engine side same as i have shown in the oher pic. that is indeed the correct way right??

Oh and i flushed the radiator today and it was not clogged, also checked the hoses which seem ok and werent collapsed.

thanks again for all the help guys!

Most head gaskets will say top or cylinder head side or something similar

yeah my haynes manual says the gaskets should say front on the side of the gasket that goes to the front of the engine but they didnt say anything about which way they go. =/

after i flushed my radiator and all yesterday, i drove it home which was only about 2-3 miles away from were i was and parked it for the night and this afternoon i went out there and wanted to see how low the antifreeze was and as i opened the radiator cap it let out pressure. thats not right i know that!

Man i am so tired of all the BS with this car i just wanna drive it somewhere and start it on fire and blow it up!! ha

no matter what i do with the cooling system right now, every time i fill the radiator and start the engine antifreeze shoots out of the top of the radiator!! I have flushed my cooling system a few times since i have owned this car and never had problems like this!! grrrrrr

I think those head gaskets are on backwards. There is obviously some sort of obstruction thats preventing coolant from going through the cylinder head.

I hate to say it, but I think that a tear down is in order. I just hope that the lack of coolant through the heads hasn't warped or damaged them.

Well guys i tore down the motor again last night and it seems as though i had the gaskets on the wrong sides of the motor. i had the left side on the right side and the right side on the left side. =/ I subscribed to AllDataDiy.com online auto repair information. and in the section about replacing the head gaskets it says install new gasket with tiny hole facing front which i am assuming is the small hole i circled in red on the attached picture.

So far no error codes yet but i have only drivin it maybe 5 miles so far.

although when engine reaches normal operating temp the heater still blows out cold air & doesnt get hot at all. =/

Yes, but does the car come up to temp?

Thumbs up

Well guess what guys... i took my car out for another short easy ride and the temp gauge was sitting right where it should be in the middle and i turned my heat on high and suprise it was blowing out hotter then ever & stayed hot! when i got back home i also checked the upper radiator hose & it was hot and firm like it should be!! So i think it is safe to say that the problem is finally solved thank god!

thanks for all your help guys!!

Sounds like you were probably losing coolant before you parked your ride for the winter. More than likely blowing it out the exhaust pipe in the form of vapor. Once you parked for the winter you also gave your car the opportunity to leak coolant into your crankcase via the bad head gasket. Sounds like you did a good head gasket repair job but have not replaced the standard amount of coolant in your cooling system. This could explain why you are not getting warm air from your cabin heater. You do not have any water or coolant circulating through your heater core on a continual basis. As StalkerStang stated, I believe you are going to need to get more coolant into your system, therefore, I believe you will need to go back to the bleeder valve or bolt and remove to enable the air to escape as you add coolant. I believe once you have the the prescribed amount of coolant in your cooling system you will get rid of the eng code. Does this make sense????? Don't run it hot again from lack of coolant and blow another gasket!!!

Good Luck and hope my comment is helpful.

All is well now... the heat is blowing out hotter then ever & no engine codes have came up at all. I am confident that the problem is now solved and the engine is running like it should be!!

I was out of town since Friday so I am just now reading this...

I'm glad it worked out for you, it seems we were on the right track, something blocking coolant flow.

Well needless to say you won't put headgaskets on backwards anymore, lol
