I would only trim the hood if you had a GT hood scoop to cover it up. Looks kinda weak to have something sticking out of the hood and your car only makes 200 HP.
I did not want to re-locate the IAC, I like it to be where Ford designed it to be.
If you do relocate it, you would probably have use the Mustang TB, because the Windstar one is taller and that also hits the underside of the hood.
Not hard to do, did you look at my write up?

Going to LA from Phoenix, I got 28 mpg, but I ran into traffic on the 91 and I'm sure that it killed the mpg.
However, coming back today, from Knotts Berry Farm to the Morongo (on the I10) I pulled off 35 mpg (34.8 to be exact). I re-did my math a few times because I was a little shocked. But as back up, from the Morongo to Blythe it got 33 mpg. Needless to say I'm very happy with it. All the driving was done at 70 mph, with the windows down and the a/c off.
So if you guys are worried about mpg with the Windstar intake, then I think its safe to say that it will not hurt it, it may improve it.

^I do not think that it would look to bad to have the hood cut open. Especially if it serves a purpose. The difference between a tuned split-port with cai/exhaust/windstar and a stock split-port is a big enough difference I think that you could run around with a hole in the hood showing off the intake. That is just my opinion though.

ehh, imho, do what you gotta do.
if your worried about what other people think, a V6 mustang is probably not the right car for you...lol
I personally don't want anything sticking out of a hood unless it means serious business. Even If I had an 871 blower on it, it better be making 800+ HP. There are so many cars making big power with nothing sticking out of the hood.
Kind of like putting stickers all over your car, yeah its your car, yeah who cares what people think as long as you like it. But be prepared to be ragged on for it...

Why would a person get made fun of? It is functional. I would not make fun of a person for cutting a hole into their hood if it saved them $500 and it served a purpose. If the hole was just for aesthetic purposes then I would probably question it... lol Times are a bit tough right now and not everyone has an additional $500 to buy a hood.

true...
its up to the owner; if you're cutting a hole in your hood so that you're able to close the hood, i dont think anyone would laugh or poke fun; but you'll look pretty silly if it turns out you dont have the power to back up the look lol, so you may get ragged for that.
they sell a piece on one of the sites selling the windstar intake swap kit with a slanted spacer for the throttle body so u dont have to modify the hood
i did this swap power gains are incredably noticeable i have other mods as well which probaly helped but i did notice a big change in power. but idle is a little different seems as though it need to warm up to idle properly i wonder if that is from the remot iac?
