Default too much power for my trans and rear end?

i have a 2001 v6 auto stang and i have intake exhaust diablosport tuner and was looking to get a torque converter, nitrous, and rear end gears and posi. i was wondering if my transmission and rear end would be able to handle that. would i be better off getting a rear end off a gt or should i be fine with my 7.5 rear end? thanks

I would think the nitrous might put you over the edge into using a GT back-end... but the stock 7.5" should be able to handle everything else. But that's just a guess - somebody else should have more experience and better advice on this...

I have to add a tag-along question: what's the price comparison for a 7.5" posi with new gears vs. a GT take-off? And what all will you need to use a GT back-end?

Can't speak too much for the V6 auto trans.

The rear end will probably be ok as long as you aren't launching on the n2o. But if you come across an 8.8 I would jump on it.

I've found 8.8's out of GT's for 300-500 around Phoenix. Its pretty much a bolt in.

The V6 auto is the 4R70W and is pretty stout - check out this link for all info on Ford's auto tranny's. TCCoA Tech Articles#

Specifically, this page says that tranny can handle 450+ hp with some modified parts (mostly included in a shift kit). TCCoA Transmission Article - Page 6

The auto should last for quite awhile it is a strong unit. You could look in a salvage yard but if they are anything like they are around here they will charge way to much. They wanted to charge me for the labor of taking it out and for the rear end itself. It would have ended up being around $500-$600 they estimated for me to have a rear end off of a totaled GT with stock gears...

I'm not sure if this is much help to you but after reading this I started thinking about the mods I'm probably gonna do to my car and wondered if my trani and rear end could handle it so I went to craigs like and looked up an 8.8 Mustang rear end and I noticed in this guys list (MUSTANG PARTS FOR SALE 79-93) that he says hes selling a complete 8.8 rear end for what I believe it 250... I'm not sure, the whole trani and rear end is new territory to me so I could be completely wrong hahahaha. Well anyway just tryin to help out.
