Default service engine light on due to larger whells and tyres

Hi all,

I recently bought a v6 year 2000, the service light was on when i bought it and i took it to our local dealer here in Spain and we found we had two fault codes, one was for the dpfe pressure sensor which i have ordered, the other was for the larger wheels and tyres, they plugged it into their computer and it would not allow them to change the tyre preset size, it kept saying that the size was beyond that stipulated by ford. what can i do to change this¨.

The problem we have is here in Spain the computer only allows them to access european ford vehicles, the other problem is that i need to code an additional key and as you can imagine the damm machine says no because it cant talk to the module on the car, it recognises the car but it cant access the reprograming module.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

the larger wheels and tires wouldnt throw a CEL, but it could throw an ABS/TCS code, if your running different size tires in the front than in the rear...if your car is equipped with ABS and/or TCS.
a handheld tuner such as a diablosport predator should correct this.
what are your wheel & tire sizes, front & rear?

might be easier just to throw on a set of 245/45r17's next tire change provided you're confident that this is causing your warning light.
