Default Please help!! Blown 1996 v6 head gasket

Last night I was driving home from work. Everything seemed fine until I got on the highway. I had the heat on and as I approached about 65 miles per hour the heat cut out and I looked down and the engine temperature was at about the "L" in NORMAL. I pulled over and allowed the car to cool down. The heat came back on and I decided to drive home. The heat worked and the engine stayed cool until I started to hit about 65 mph again. I took the car to the mechanic and he said its a blown head gasket. What do you guys think? Please help, I can't afford the $1500 to replace the head gasket.

Very common problem for the V6 cars in that year range. Your only hope is to either do the job yourself or try to get it done for less.

...you can't really feel a lot but I did notice the revs go up quicker in neutral.

+1.....

It will run you about $200.00 if you do it yourself......
