Trouble with filler neck gromet

I have read about this on here before about people replacing theres but i am having trouble getting the filler hose out of the tank. So i was wondering if there is a trick to it that i may be missing so if anyone has any ideas i would really appriaciat it.

Did you take off the 3 bolts in the flap? The ones up under the filler neck? Then you need to drop the tank and wiggle out the filler tube. The tank really needs to go down to the left and pulled towards the drivers' side. Make sure you use grease on the new seal so it doesn't rip.......
