Just wanted to know from some guys who have mustangs what would be the simplest way to swap a v 6 to a v 8 in the car would it be an older 5.0 carbed ? oh this is for a 2000 3.8
etc it will be better to buy a wrecked Gt and swap all the parts I've never heard of someone that actually have don it.. Plus if you aint a mechanic it will be really expensive.... I don't know why this q isnt a sticky yet.... and Welcome to AFM...

Are you doing it for the sound? Or is it a built 5.0? Because if not its not much faster than your 02 v6.

its not easy
its not cheap
its not fun its worth it
Did you mean its "not" worth it? I personally don't see how it could be worth trouble.

How is it worth it? Spending 3k on a 5.0L swap that has 10-20hp more and weighs 150lbs more than his current engine? With that money he could kill the 5.0...
Engine
Trans
Rear end (opt)
ECU
Harness
Throttle cable
Clutch
A/C lines
Exhaust
Injectors
Radiator + fan
Coolant res
Mass air metre
Clutch housing
Gauge cluster
and fuel system's gotta be upgraded if you're going to mod it
also with the rear end you'll need the GT suspension. it is different
*** dont forget about the PAPPS ( i think i got it right) the security in our cars (96 and up i believe) is all tied together and either needs to be disabled or re done at the dealership
in all honesty.. if you aren't going to bore out the 4.6 block.. add heads.. a blower.. anything.. it would be cheaper and easier to buy a GT. now dont take this as if i'm tellin you to just go buy a GT i'm doing a swap as well, but i'm going with a cobra 5L in my 2000 instead of a stock 4.6L. and it's also not my DD my grocery getter is a 2001 eclipse. if you want a relitivly easier swap. look for a 4.2L V6 or just rebuild urs with 4.2L forged internals
i took that from a thread just down from this. again i'm not into bashing ppl for wanting to do a V8 swap. as i am in the process of doing it and that'd be dumb if i bash for it. but to answer the thread question... the simplest way to get a V8 IS to trade it in on a V8 GT.
now if you dont want that.. the next easiest way is to go carb'd. BUT all your engine parts HAVE TO BE NEWER than your car if not brand new. that's basically your block, heads, intake, headers, and all wiring/ignition. and also i believe the tranny too.. EST cost.. be prepaired for 10-15 grand
after that is a GT swap. again it's been said before you have to get a donor car. and it has to be same year or newer than yours (ie 2000+)
Now what sometimes happens is some people will have troubles with finding a complete donor car.. sometimes you'll only find a car with everything BUT the engine (due to popularity of the 2v 4.6L) if that happens to you another option is to snag a 5.4L 2v modular engine out of a navigator/F150. the engine is basically the same (other than the displacement) and the GT wiring will work just fine after a good tune
you have to really think what you want.. if it's just a little more power you're looking for and dont think a 3.8L can push 300hp+ you're wrong.. I've seen 3.8's get into the low 10's/ mid 9's on the 1/4. but if you honestly and truly want a V8 because of the sound and you have oodles of cash just sittin around. than that might be an option.
sorry if it seems like i'm ranting but it needs to be said
