Default Can someone please answer my question

I have a 2000 ford mustang and it has 105850 miles on it. Is that good? or bad? Also, what businesses are good to go for oil changes and service other than a ford dealership? I bought this off of another owner. If someone answer's my questions it will be much appreciated!

Mileage average is usually about 12,000 a year on a daily driven car. Which would be 12,000 x 9 = 108,000 miles, so you are in line with the national average.

Jiffy lube or similar faculity can change your oil for much cheaper than a Ford dealership and do it usually in a lot less time.

be sure to get a good quality oil.fords LOVE parasynthetic and full synthetic oil, increases in gas milage and power will be noticable.
i spend a bit more on oil with royal purple but it is worth it,swap out the filter every 2500 miles and change the oil every 5000 this is ok with a FULL synthetic but i wouldn't push it ,with a parasynthetic change the oil and filter every 3000 miles and your motor will be happy
2005 gt,with the cruise set at 65mph i get 30.35 mpg(goes down conciderably when ya wana play)
where ever you go to get your oil changed (why not do it yourself?its not that hard and that way you know what you are getting)be sure they don't use a suction tube it misses the sluge that settleson the bottom of the oil pan

I have 108k and no mechanical problems yet since a year. and I always pass like 8 stop signs and I'm always speeding at 40-60mph then stop and again the same speed and I get 15mpg!

Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Just don't skimp on maintenance.

one suggestion is to put a good additive such as a lucas oil stabilizer or a container of engine restore. it will lubricate your engine well. if the oil hasn't been changed for a while, it is also good to have the place you go do a motor flush, that gives piece of mind that you are starting off good.

It is time for full synthetic oil.....

I don't like the quicky lube places. They have crackheads working for minimum wage, and they don't know the first thing about cars. How many horror stories have you heard about them leaving the oil filter or drain plug loose?

lol... ive heard MANY horror stories, your right about that.

anybody who does a lof in 10 minutes or less is either half-assing your car, or a superb top-notch proffesional lube tech. lol which one seems more likely at $7/hr ?
(at least 5 of those 10 minutes are paperwork related, so its actually more like a 5 minute oil change)
i hate the idea of anyone else working on my car. they just dont care. if they scratch something or bend something or mess something up, do you think they're gonna tell you?

I trained to be a mechanic, and when finally placed at an employer, quit the same day! It is horrifying how they treat your vehicle, and all work time is kept track of and you are only alotted a certain time per job. It is a close call to get the job done with quality, let alone inspect your car for additional issues! I say take the time to learn the basics... like oil changes, tune ups and light maintenace. The money invested in simple tools and learning materials will be worth every penny when it comes to the peacful feeling of knowing the job was done right!

yeah thats called flat rate; if your quick & good at what you do, its the best thing ever. most dealerships pay you an hour to do a drive belt for example...if your good you can get it done in 10-15 minutes. and you still get paid an hour. then you can go pull in your next car and replace a halfshaft for example, get it done in half an hour, and get paid 1.5 . its awesome!

and i will always work on my own car if possible, i have to know my car is being treated right.
so far i've never had to take it to a shop or the ford dealership. lol i hope i didnt just jynx myself

Yeah, the opportunity to make money is there, and I am in no means slow at work...

But sometimes you have people whos only focus is finishing the job as fast as possible so they can make money on the next job.... which is how you end up with loose drainplugs and "extra" parts.....

I just cant seem to put confidence in anyone else when it comes to my cars.....
