Hey everyone,

I was driving the car down the highway with the convertible top up, when I thought I heard a humming noise from the rear end area of the car.

Is there a real way to see/hear or test if the differential gears are going bad?

I would check the fluid first. Use 75w-140 gear lube in it. There is a fill plug on the top drivers' side on the rear itself. You use a 3/8" ratchet with no socket on it. Fill it up until it runs out. If it is full, try changing the fluid by taking off the rear cover. Use black rtv to seal up the cover again, and fill it up.
