I like the fuel injected versions better than the carbed ones. A friend has an 83.5 GL convertible with a carb and the perfomance is pretty much non-existant. My Dad's old 90 Cougar was quick and my 03 Stang is about the same speed as my old 66 289.

Not really... The 3800 series is a better built engine stock...

I have heard a lot of different things about our 3.8L. That they are based off of the 5.0. That they are based off of the GNX engine. Those two theories are supposed to be why the 3.8L responds so well to boost. But I am not sure either way.

There is a great article on the internet about the history of our 3.8 and how Ford developed it. I can't remember the website. I originally queried the ford 3.8 v6 to find it. Coolcats.net has a good tech article that includes mods. Windsor engines are the 260,289, 302, and 351. The 3.8 may be made in Windsor, but is not considered a Windsor.

A website I found seems interesting. Gives some background on the 3.8.

I have read this article before. I remember because the 3.8 has so many variations.
