Default 2002 Mustang Seat Question

I drive a 2002 v6 mustang coupe.

I was thinking about taking the back seats out. However I was anticipating there being a shelf the seats rested on. Instead each is sitting on the left/right side of what I believe is the axle? Anyways, I want to put a shelf over that does anyone know how I could do that or what I would need to buy? I only need the shelf to hold 50-100 lbs tops. Not people just some mod sound equipment and other various things.

They make a rear seat delete kit that cleans it up a lot back there. You can find it on americanmuscle.com or a few other places on teh interwebs

Hmm. They say it's not intended to hold woofers or anything though. That is one of a few key reasons why I wanted to take out the back seats. Is there something I can do to support it more so it can or from experience do you think it can handle some weight?

I'm not sure. It should be able to support some weight. Idk if it'll support as much as you need it to. You might be able to come up with some braces that run along the underside of it to give it more support. Maybe someone else on the site has some experience with it and can shed some light on the situation

You can make your own kit for about $40.00. You need to use 3/4"plywood and get some cheap carpet and staple it down. Most of the RSD kits I make, I take out all of the interior trim and remove the seat brackets to save weight. I have my nitrous bottle mounts on my RSD kit........

Yeah if you use 3/4" plywood it'll be able to hold a good amount of weight
