Default 2000 Mustang V6 Coupe Window Trouble

I've got a 2000 V6 3.8L Coupe and as I was pulling out of the driveway I attempted rolling my driver's side window down only to hear a loud pop and a rattle as my window popped out of the track.

I'll have to take the door panel off to fix it, and I was just posting to see if anyone had any tips or tool recommendations for removing the door panel and re-aligning the window.

Thanks in advance.

to get the panel off take off the plastic cover by the side mirror on the inside, i think there is a screw behind that but not sure. remove your switch panel, disconnect electrical and set aside. there should be 2 or 3 other screws holding it on. if i remember correctly there is one on the front side or maybe the bottom. after the screws are out grab it by the handle and lift the panel up and out, dont try to pry the panel off it is designed to lift up and out.
ive never realigned a window so i cant help you there, sorry

Also, you need to pull the plastic pin located on the front of the door panel by the lower hinges. That is an alignment pin so the door panel will stay on......

more than likely what has happened is that the window has come unglued from 1 of the 2 places that it is attached to the regulator. it is a complete PITA. if thats whats happened you'll have to remove your door panel, remove the window, and remove the regulator from the door. take a "whiz wheel" as i call it, and remove all the old glue from the regulator mounts and the small areas on the window. then get either some clear rtv or whatever glue/epoxy ford recommends, use that, and roll the window all the way up as high as it will go and let it sit overnight.

after the window has set, spray some silicone lubricant on the rubber window runs so that the window doesnt get stuck as it slides up and down. i had to reglue my window 3 times before i figured out why the window kept coming off the regulator.

this is a common problem on 99-00 stangs.

i wish the window was bolted to the regulator like hyundai's and toyota's...then this wouldnt happen.

also, if you dont want to remove the window completely from the car, you can use a "window wedge" which is basically a rubber wedge. once the window is detached completely from the regulator, pull the window up all the way and stick the wedge between the top of the doorframe and the window; and the window wedge will hold the window up and out of your way.

We had the same problem on our 90 Cougar. We were regluing it every 6-8 months and we used every window glue we could buy. We finally had to get a pro to do it who used a glue we couldn't get. Good luck on yours and remember what K7 said.
