Question 1997 Mustang 3.8L Constant, harsh vibration: normal?

Hello, the car's a 1997 Mustang V6 automatic with around 250k miles. The engine was rebuilt shortly before I got the car, so I don't know if or if not it's always behaved like this.

The car vibrates almost violently; one can feel it at any time the car is NOT accelerating(idle, cruise, coasting, etc.). It vibrates much less noticeably while accelerating. Most people find it to be quite unusual yet very cool, but I'm just not sure if it's safe for it to be vibrating so harshly. One can feel it from any place in or on the car, even the trunk!

It's already had a tune up, so you can exclude things such as fouled plugs and clogged filters/injectors. The engine runs beautifully.

I'm thinking it's something along the lines of suspension. The shocks and struts are original... please don't yell at me.

I'm currently unemployed and too poor to solve anything that isn't ABSOLUTELY necessary. If it's going to fall off soon, please do tell me so that I may catch it.

I don't think you understand; it does it EVERYWHERE and ALL THE TIME, except during acceleration. How can the drive shaft or rear end be the problem if it does it in park? lmao

Harsh vibrations like that are most likely worn engine mounts or improper engine balancing. If the car has original shocks/struts then every other worn out original part is still in there as well. It's a crapshoot, start by looking at mounts and go from there.

There should never ever be any vibrations, never mind harsh ones.

Thanks!

We took it to a very reliable mechanic for the rebuild. If the mounts were badly worn, one would expect they'd replace them, correct? One would also expect them to balance it properly, honestly. I'll have to call them and ask exactly what they did and didn't replaced...

It is worth the phone call. If anything, I would be complaining that the thing is vibrating so bad. He would not necessarily replace bad/worn mounts and it could even be a bad transmission mount although I still think the engine is the root cause for the vibration.

I've driven the car for just over a year, and never thought to ask that until now. I haven't noticed it get any better or any worse over that year, so I'm assuming it's fine to drive it...
