There are a lot of different way to get a good sounding exhaust it depends on what you planning on doing are you trying to get a catback or redo it from the heads all the way back or how loud or quiet you want it. Check out www.mustangexhaust.com they have a couple sound clips from the v6 and should help you get a good start.

^^^^pypes violators sound great to me... You just have to pick what YOU think is best. You have people that will tell you what sounds good and what doesn't, but only you can be the real judge. Look on youtube to find ones you like.
I know people are probably sick of me posting my exhaust video, but these threads keep popping up so here it is.

It has a pacesetter dual exhaust adapter kit (h-pipe style) and a GT Violators Catback. It sounds pretty agressive in the high rpms, but when at low rpms, its fairly deep and grumbly. It doesn't sound like a v8, because it isnt. A mostly stock v6 will not sound like a v8. The popping isn't normally there, i just did a bad job installing the system. Good luck and i hope you find an exhaust system that makes you happy!

^^^ I was waiting for you to pop up! Peeps are always blasting Pypes, and it's a shame you have to always defend yourself. I've listened to your exhaust a few times, and aside from the popping, I LOVE IT!!! I've also listened to several other Pypes systems on you tube and that's what I'm planning on getting!!

But like he said: it's all personal preference; and it will never sound like a V8 (IMO, I don't want it to! ).

I got the pypes Header back system without the cats and it sounds like a 350z not exactly at all what i was lookin for. (Not tryin to bash anyone who does have them) They sound ten times better with cats though! I'm looking into doin a Bassani catted Xpipe or magnaflowcatted x pipe with some 40 flows or borla mufflers to me thats what some of the best sounding 6s are running. Good luck and do your research so you don't end up like me sounding like a geo with a foldgers coffee can on the back

Thanks for the advice - but I pretty much have to get cats anyway (for emissions)!! Good thing to know that I will be getting the better sounding system.

I was planning on this summer... but then we've had some issues recently: stove crapped out and had to buy a new one, dog had eye problems (big vet bill), and now we have a baby on the way! (The last one is a good thing, but still limits the budget for the Mustang). So I'm probably looking at next summer, unfortunately... I will keep ya posted.
