hey! lol as we know my friend bought my 00' and he originally wanted to drop a 5.0 in the bay but decided on keeping the 3.8. his question was can you do this conversion? what would you need to do and what do you need?
from my understanding(this is also what i just see from the motor so i'm probably wrong)
it looks like the fuel injectors are mounted into the lower intake manifold of the split port. since there are long and short runners is their anyway i can keep the split port design but have it carburated??
if there isnt then our other option was to go diesel. we dont know what we want in it yet but what all is required for that swap??
and if any of you are wondering i drive a toyota sts now=] lol
Hey look who's back... Ya gotta Toyota now, huh? Any pics?
I'd like to help ya out, but you are all over the place with your questions... 5.0 into a 3.8 is expensive and not worth. If you want the V8, trade in the V6 for a GT.
I don't think runners have to do with carburators... Carbs suck in air from right on top of them (which is why they often poke through the hood) - no intake or filter. From there, it goes right into the manifold - so no runners.
Diesel is another animal entirely. Diesels use higher compression to ignite the fuel instead of spark, so everything will have to handle higher "boost". Also, you will need glow plugs for cold starts... I'm sure that's not all, but you can see how they are completely different and cannot be converted. Swapping in a diesel engine might be interesting... but then your Mustang would be for towing and not racing. Oh wait, you don't have a Mustang...
[I apologize to newbies, but this guy's been here before and has a tendency to exaggerate and jump around with his "ideas"...]

Are you kidding me? It is impossible to do this. Period. There would be more things to change to make it even a remote possibility than it would to put a 5.0L in. As for a diesel, that is even more ridiculous.
Neither will ever happen and you should not even waste your own time posting things like this that you could not even remotely every hope to pull off.
what are you talking about?? if you need some help with your "impossible" notations a CAR is just a SHELL you can put WHATEVER you want in it. speaking within limitations of size and practicality.
ya i told him the 5.0 would be useless so he's down for carbing it. and why is it impossible? i really wanna know cuz i'm not trying to be a dick i'm just sayin dude, what is so difficult about the swap?
fill me in on the split port a little. are the one set of runners for air, and the other for the fuel injectors? if thats so it makes this a hell of alot easier.
and ya i know. diesels are amazing. very heavy. but deff more efficient than gasoline engines.
and the only reason why your saying it "cant" happen is because you think i'm talking about converting a gasoline motor to diesel. which is stupid. and yes will NEVER happen. that crank will blow thru the block so fast. i'm talking dropping a diesel in.
for towing not racing??? you do realize that horsepower is basically a side effect from torque dont you?
ya it would tow. but not in yer sense.
it would haul ass
an ya its not my mustang anymore. and i'm freaking glad lol. i have a 2600lb mid engine car with 305hp. btw that hauls ass too
it looks like all you need to do is what i did for my mr2/sts. junk everything gas and drop in everything diesel. so my best bet would be to just find a salvaged truck(like i found the 97 sts) and swap everything in.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to make a 3.8V6 Mustang split port carburated. Period. Besides having to build a one of a kind intake manifold, you then have to convert it to using a distributor and an ignition system that does not rely on the ECM. You don't have the know how or ability.
As for a diesel, I realize you could also never pull off converting a gas engine to diesel and even more positive you could not even install one in a car and make it work.
Your ideas are stupid and what you claim you can do and have done is something that only exists in your imagination. Just the fact you are stupid enough to claim to have a V8 diesel in a MR2 is proof positive you not only are a troll, you just have no clue on the planet Earth what it would even take to do such an installation.
Please stop wasting our time. Go to another forum and try to sell your crap there. Noone here is buying from you.

Just leave it alone. He cannot make you answer him, but you can antagonize him by replying.......
hahahaha ive seen that before.... that kids ridiculous.. gotta love it tho.. ive come to the conclusion that people like that and who rice out their cars were only put on this earth just to make us normal people laugh
about putting a diesel in a mustang, i was reading a "Hot Rod" magazine last summer and there was a short piece highlighting a guy who stuffed a Duramax diesel and Allison tranny into an sn-95 and was running 9's. black smoke the whole way down the track.

You gotta remember one very important point. The guy that did it in Hot Rod magazine actually had an idea how to work on a car. The "person" that started this thread has no idea at all what he is talking about.

yeah that's true, that would take quite a bit of skill
