Default 1994 Mustang v6 Conv to 1998 v8 Swap

I have a 94 Convertible v6 Mustang with a blown engine. Everywhere i go i am told that the v6 is not strong enough for the heavy convertible and that i should make the conversion.
I have a chance to get a 98 GT v8 convertible with no title or chance of getting one, not wrecked to use as a donor car for $1000.
This would give me all the parts i need.
So my questions are:

1. is the change workable? and worth it? I love my car.

I dont have any money to make a mistake with buying another v6 which costs used just as much as the GT and has almost almost as many miles as I have now. I dont want to be changing engines every 6 months.

And for those of you that will tell me the power difference is not worth it. I care nothing for power. This is my cruizer.

Yes. I am gonna do the work myself. I am not new to replacing engines. But I have never gone from a v6 to a v8 before.

You have a HUGE job ahead of you. You will need to change the entire harness and drivetrain out and then some. A much easier swap for your car would be a 5.0L. I realize you have the 98 drivetrain already, but that is a monster job.

Why would the 5.0 be easier? Are you talking about a Carberated 5.0? I should also meantion i am in a Emissions area.

Remember, if you change the ECU, you'll also need to change the speedo cluster, or at least have the PATS codes reprogrammed or else it'll never turn over. Also, beware of balancing issues, be sure to move the flywheel and harmonic balancer over WITH the new engine or it might not balance right. Are you going to put the GT suspension on the V6 also? Are you going to put the exhaust system from the GT under the V6? In my opinion, it's not worth it. If I were you, I'd just find another V6 and put that engine in it. If you're going to go through the effort of changing all the harnesses, the ECU, and everything else, you might as well just buy a GT and part out your blown car's good parts.

No offense, but little of what you have said is correct and does not apply to what he is asking. The suspension is pretty much the same between the GT and V6 cars. The balance issue only applies when using certain different year V6 motors since the motor/tranny needs to be swapped for the 4.6L motor to fit in.

It would be easier to run a 94 drivetrain since little to nothing from the 98 4.6L drivetrain is the same as what you have. Lucky for you that you have a full parts car, that makes the swap doable. The only real issue is the amount of work and time it is gonna take to pull it off.

Listen to b1lk1.

The reason that a 5.0 is easier is because the 94-95 GT's had the 5.0L and their K-member was built to hold a 5.0L, not a 4.6L. The 4.6L swap is much easier in a 96+ model, compared to a 94-95 model.

And, the suspension's between the GT and V6 differ by the fact that the GT has a rear sway bar... The springs/shocks are built for different weight but they do not give better handling in the GT. The Cobra is the one who had decent handling in the 94-98 models.

Who said the power difference is not worth it?? The power difference will be noticeable... Just do not expect lightening fast, the NPI 4.6L leaves a bit to be desired... Just like the single-port V6...

I never even considered the fact it is a NPI engine.

Now I am even more against this swap. The ends hardly justify the means.

^Exactly... lmao I would not consider doing a 2v swap no matter what anyway, unless it had the new Trick Flow heads on it. I have not heard anything good or bad about them though so that would be a toss up. I figure that the power is all in the upper range so it would need something to help it down low.
