2.73's to 3.73's In the middle of next month i will be getting a 8.8 rearend and 3.73 gears installed in my mustang. I just wanted to ask if anyone knew how much of a difference (in tenths of a seconds that is) would the gears lower my ET
my previous ET was 16.5@85mph (yes thats slow
)

You have to know the secrets of making them fast......
2:73's to 3:73's is about .4 seconds. My '01 is at 14.5 in the 1/4 mile N/A with an internally stock motor with no underdrive pullies......

Would those secrets lie within the driver?

Not all the time. There is always the driver mod, but there is also knowledge of how to make a car perform better as well as making it lighter.....

That was going to be my second guess lol. 1/4 tank gas, lose the spare and any other unnecessary weight, tire pressure etc.

for your car you may only need a speedo recalibrator to fix the speed issue but it you go with a chip and gears you could see 15s no problem

If you want best bang for the buck for cutting down 1/4 mile times, then nitrous would def help do that

You run into several more variances even with a gear change. A t-lock would be needed as well as stickier tires........
.4 is a long time in the racing world......
