Exclamation Squeeking/Chirping Noise in my 2004 Mustang V6. Help Please!

Hey guys. I need all the help I can get with this, so please reply to this thread. My mustang is a 2004 V6 3.9L. A week ago, I started getting a squeeky chirping noise from under the hood... I replaced the idler pulley and it didn't fix it. So I took it into the shop and they said it was the water pump. So instead of spending $400 bucks for them to do it, I went and bought a new water pump and replaced it myself... I did everything correctly and I started up the car and it started chirping again. I also replaced my belt... Can anyone please tell me what else could be causing this annoying squeeky chirping sound?

when the belt if off, wiggle on all the pulleys. if they stay on firm like there supposed to , spin them by hand and listen if they make that noise with a mechanic's stethoscope (if you dont have one use a flat head screw driver (flat head end on the pulley in question and the handle against your ear))

its an automatic. And I have tried spinning all the pulley's and none of them make the chirping noise... Could the a faulty power steering pump make a chirping noise? I need to buy a recorder and record the sound lol..

funny you would mention that. i had the same problem you do and it turned out to be the dive shaft of the power steering pump. im just got a new pump today and im putting it on in the morning so i can take my car to the Woodward Dream Cruise. but because the drive shaft on my pump is broken, with the serpentine belt off the power steering pulley moves quite alot. thats why i recommended tugging on the pulleys. it could also be the bearings on your alternator. and a video camera is just as effective of recording the sound (thats what i did) i actually just posted a thread on this like 3 days ago lol. watch my videos and tell me if its the same noise

well i checked your video out and i couldn't really hear your noise but it doesn't sound like that... im going to record on my cellphone and upload it today. Mine is more of a chirping noise.... I tried to pinpoint it and its either the power steering pump or possibly my harmonic balancer? You guys ever heard of a balancer making that kind of noise?

Yo so I tried to make a video of the sound and upload it but when I upload it to the computer it distorts the sound and you can't hear the chirping noise... I was wondering if I could give you my cell number and you call me and I'll hold the phone up to my engine when it is chirping to let you hear it? it would really help me alot dude - let me know

I've had this chirping before, in my case it was the camshaft position synchronizer. It is located on the front passenger side of engine in the front timing over case. If you use a stethoscope or long screwdriver you should be able to hear it.

im not sure if its the camshaft... my squeeking noise is right in the middle of the engine around the water pump area... like almost under the water pump.... what would that area be?

That's the location. When I had it changed out, the bad one would barely turn by hand.

your saying the rusty looking pulley under the water pump is the camshaft position synchronizer?

I was not too awake this morning. The camshaft position synchronizer is on top of the timing cover case/water pump housing. I don't have the car with me otherwise I would take a pic and post it. But perhaps others that see this can discribe it better.
