Default Rear end noise in V-6 Stang

Hi Yall ! I have an '09' V-6 Stang with an automatic. Every once in a while when I put it into reverse to back out, I hear a little clanking sound comming from the rear end area. Does anyone know if something like this is normal?? Thanks so much !!!!! Lisa

Im assuming its normal. Everytime I put my 03 silevardo HD into Reverse you can here clankin like noise similar to what your talkin about. Personally im just assumin it makes the noise as the driveaxle engaging into reverse. but if it makes the noise while your backin up then i might be concerned and have someone check it out, otherwise i prolly wouldn't worry about it if it only does it when ur shiftin into the reverse gear

+1...... There should be no noises on your car.

I still have that same little clank, and I replaced my U-joins just two months ago! I figure it's got something to do with the way an auto tranny locks the output shaft in park. The engagement of that shaft may be the cause of the sound. Just my theory... helps me sleep at night.
