What year is your stang? I have a fox body 1985 and I had an h-pipe for years and it sounded great! I just recently added a x-pipe and it sounds good too. Plus the x-pipe is supposed to give a little more horsepower because it flows better. I would go with the x-pipe. Hope i helped!!!!!
When you own a V6 stang 3.8, 3.9, or 4.2 stroker, You're part of something different. You don't rely on a V8 to do your driving. Instead you learn the V6. You tune and tweak until you see GT's falling behind you. Then when they ask "Is that a V8?" You simply respond with a rev that clearly states "I'm a V6" with a proud smile on your face. As your girlfriend sitting on the seat next to you calls you an idiot.
yea thats why i choose an H pipe a bit more muscle sounding than an X pipe.

An X pipe will give you a more raspy sound while an H pipe will give you more of an old school muscle car rumble. You might see a few more hp with an X than an H but it isn't going to be enough to be noticeable.
Personally I think the H sounds better, but it is your car so get the one you think sounds better.

My understanding, and I think I saw a post by Stlwagon once, is that H sounds better with chambered mufflers (Flowmaster, GTA, etc.) & an X sounds better with straight through design (Borla Stingers).

i agree. my buddy has X pipes on his GT, it doesnt sound bad at all but diffenlty more raspy/tinny. i guess its what you prefer
If I had a GT, I'd put on an x pipe and cut off the cats. I was speaking about the v6. Maybe I should be more specific. They can make the sixers raspy at higher rpms.

For V6's? Or V8's as well?

i think X pipes make a car sound more raspy regardless of the amount of cylinders and i think aquacop has a good point
It all boils down to preference in sound. People have different sound taste, so this subject can go around in circles. (I've seen it a lot on threads) For a V6, a H pipe with flows seem to be the most popular and it's the set up I would go with for a V6
