Default My mustang just to a 100% stock Sonoma Pick up truck. Need more power. How?

Like the title says. My mustang has a CAI, H pipe exhaust with flow masters, and i just got the car tuned. Lost to a 100% stock Pick up truck.

We have an abandoned warehouse near where i live and its funny because they redid the parking lot before they closed down not even three years ago. That's where a lot of races happen and the police don't really care as long as no one gets hurt.

I feel like my car is worthless right now. It is so much faster with a tune and it is still slower than my friends 2001 GMC Sonoma. I know he has a bigger 4.3 Liter Vortech V6 but wow. It was about a 1/4 mile and i lost by a half a car length.

What other little mods can i do that aren't going to cost me an arm and a leg to get a little more power. I'm not looking to spend a whole day installing them either.. like a half hour to 2 hour job would be about it and not over $300 would be nice. I know MAF sensors are a simple upgrade and don't take much time but would i need to retune the car since the tuner i have says either "STOCK" or "80MM"?

what kind of tuner do you have? and a set of 3.73 or 4.10 gears would go a long way but ive never installed them so i cant say how long that would take...

Do a windstar intake swap. Plenty of guys on here are doing and it seems to be pretty good. Turbo/Super charge it is the easiest way. Goodluck

I have an SCT tuner, i bought the preloaded one off of AM. hmm rear gears would cost me a few days with out a car. I looked into it and i don't have the knowledge so i would have to have a shop do it.

As for the intake swap, what parts would i need exactly?

also never installed a windstar air intake but theres a thread stickyed at the top of the fourms page about it and the install. i could be wrong but i think that would take more time lol and both gears and an windstar intake are gonna require a new tune

Default hey

i got the same problem but with a hatch..... gears would be the most effective but it intalation cost would be about 300 dallors so ur best bet would be buying a throttle body and intake from american muscle also can get a 6% discount for being member of this fourom all u got to do is ask amnick for the discount coupon number..... and the throttle body will be 250 and the intake u can get the 80 dallor one and ur loking at around 20 horses more then enough to beat that tocoma also try to came some wiegh of that would really help to.... race that guy again then tell me how it went

making it light might do me more, since i have a drop top. I do plan on eventually super charging it probably in a year.

I know my seats are heavy since they have the motors in them. I was wondering how much Corbeau seats weigh and would it be worth swapping them since i'm going to be doing AUTO X next season as well? '

does any body have a set of used ones?

Did you get a tune from a tuner device or from a dyno tune? If you can save up and do the rear gears like mentioned, that would help alot. If you've never done it before, i definitely wouldn't try it. The mass air and TB would be a waste.
With your mods i'm surprised that it beat you. you sure it was stock? it's weighs more than your car and has 195HP stock.
don't let it get you down on your car though, we all have bad and good days.

yea he just bought it from JD by-Ryder so i know its stock i even looked under the hood and up and down the whole truck before he bought it...

I just used my tuner i didn't get a dyno tune. I'm thinking of just lightening it up. It would be the easiest thing for me to do. Replace the stock 80lbs seats with 27 lb seats and then take out my back seats and get a delete kit. Maybe take out the motors in the power top and make it manual top. I know those things weigh together like 150 lbs i had to replace the ones on my 92 VERT.

damn??!

if your brakes were dragging that bad, your rear rotors were probably warped to hell and covered in heat spots (glazed).

did you feel a pulsation in the brake pedal before replacing the rears pads & rotors?
