question for you high performance guys...just wondering.
ok what would it take to get my mustang to get the front end to come off the ground even a little bit in drags (or off the red light) ... like in the movie fast and the furious with vin desiels car
Low end torque means torque in the lower part of the power band (RPMs).
Also you are going to need some serious traction. A lot of low end torque will do you no good without hooking up at the line. A good pair of drag radials might do it.
A good start for low end torque would be a 5.0 engine or 347 stroker. They are know for their lower RPM grunt. Modular motors, including 32V Cobra motors, can do it but, their power is mainly in the upper RPMs.
Eibach makes drag launch springs for starters. Eibach Drag-Launch Springs (79-04 V8 Coupe) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Those will get you started, but if you seriously want to be able to pull the front wheels off the ground you are going to need a very well tuned car.
I know there is one guy who managed to pull the front wheels off the ground in his Fox 5.0 with some mods. He was running a forged 331 stroker (375RWHP) with a 2700RPM launch on drag radials. A new edge Mustang weights a lot more than the Foxes. Keep that in mind.
yeah i know i want a v8 32v v4 i plan to get one built from ford in a year or so and until then i am just building around what i got yeah its expensive and time intense but hey its mine so i do what i want =)...
With a 32v Modular you are going to need a super/turbo charger to get you to enough HP to pull the front up.
You are also going to have to build up the rear end and the rest of the drive train. Hard launches are going to tear the heck out your clutch and rear end. If you are serious about using a 32v and pull the front wheels off the ground, you are going to probably need a built 8.8" rear end and slicks. Otherwise you are just going to end up demolishing your rear end or smoking your tires into dust.

im getting a 8.8 rear in the next week or two but the front would still be a v6 end...i wouldnt think there would be any problem with v8 springs on a v6?......
Redlyr is right, I've been building my coupe since mid '07 and I just purchased 430 gears, Strange axles, Tremec TKO 500 and I am fixing to purchase a new driveshaft. You got a long journey ahead of you, I know cuz I started my car out as a 4 cyl. ha

That kit does nothing towards accomplishing your goals. You will be removing those if you are serious about your wheelie dreams.
Noone is trying to talk you out of it, you just gotta realize that it is not a matter of bolting on a few parts and your car magically does a wheelie. That only happens like that in movies.
I would also avoid a 8.8" rear as well and go straight to a custom 9" rear since it is a far better unit for the abuse you are planning. The 8.8" is a good unit, but it will not last long under constant super hard launches unless you plan on rebuilding it frequently.

If you don't plan to go F/I, you will never have this problem. Don't worry about it.
