Doesn't it do it when the fan kicks in while it's idling as well. Mine does anyways.

My old car did that when it was a little low on refrigerant, when off for that quick few seconds, pressure would build up enough to trip the sensor and engage it, then that would drop the pressure and it would dis-engage, ect.

Maybe I haven't let it idle that long in the heat, but I haven't noticed it with the fan, not so far anyway....

I think I have a can of r134r with the pressure checker doo-hickey on it, not sure if it has any fridge left in, but at least I can check the pressure. I'll let you guys know,

OK that was the problem. I put the guage on the low side fitting and watched, the compressor would turn, then stop, ect. and I could see the pressure go from very low up to almost normal, then it would kick in and drop. I ran to schucks got a big can of the refrigerant, it took the whole can and could have used a bit more but that got it about 1/3 into the normal range, close to center so good enough. Now I have ICE cold air coming out and no more surging. Kewl!
