Default 1999 v6 mustang clutch ticking

I am just wondering what could be causing this. When i have my foot just laid on the clutch pedal but not engaging the clutch, basically just taken the slack off the cable then there is a ticking type noise that gets louder and faster when the rpm increase, but completly goes away after like 2-3k rpm, unless I just cant hear it then? The noise also isnt there when my foot is not on the pedal and there is slack on the cable and also the nosie goes as soon as the clutch starts to engage. What could be causing this?

Mine is doing the same thing and i was told it was the throw out bearing as well. what would you need to fix it, other than the bearing. would you need to replace the bearing retainer?

Simply replace the throw-out bearing. If the bearing has chewed-up the face of the pressure plate, you may want to replace the entire clutch to be safe.

It seems to be what the throwout bearing slides onto on the shaft that goes into the gearbox? What is this? The fork arm can be taken and wiggled back and forth and is striking off the casing which is whats making the ticking noise.
