Default engine revs on it's own, help!

So I've had this problem with my 2000 v6 mustang for a while now. when I come to a stop and i'm still in drive, my engine revs itself and if i'm not holding the brake pedal down hard enough it will lurch forward. normally it isn't 2 bad, but on 2 separate occasions my car has done a burnout by itself without me touching the gas pedal. any ideas on what i can do to fix this problem??

sounds like your IAC is sticking open and needs to be cleaned.

where would I find the IAC? I am not the most engine savvy so I appreciate all the help I can get!

how would you suggest cleaning out the hard to reach area in the back of the AIC?

it's not hard to get to, just loosen the (2) 10mm bolts and disconnect the plug and then you can clean the IAC.

grab a can of intake cleaner or brake cleaner and clean all the carbon deposits (black stuff) out of it.
