Default 1997 Mustang Tire Size

Alright, I have a 1997 V6 Mustang. I have the 15 inch rims, and I am looking into getting new tires. What would be the best looking tire size to put on there? Or if anyone can tell me, what the stock size tire was for this car? Just looking for advice as to what I should buy or look into because right now I am undecided because cheap, smaller tires are on it right now.

I went with 315 35 17 in the rear and 255 40 17 in the front. They look great. For your car i would go with maybe 285's in the rear and 245's in the front. On 17 inch rims, of corse.

205/65-15

That's the size that's on there now, they look too small on the car, I wanted a bigger tire without being overkill.

That is what he was saying. He was saying that is the stock size for your car.

Correct, but they appear to be too small. What size could I go with that's a little bigger and still make it look good?

I agree. If you want the same size tires all the way around, then 245/45 17 is the way to go. They are not HUGE and they are not TINY. I think they look good. If you are wanting to keep the 15 inch rims, than I don't think any tires will look good. 15's are just too small. But that is just me.

To the OP - please clarify your question:

Are you looking for larger tires to fit on the stock 15" rim? Do you want wider or taller tires?

Or are you asking about plus-sizing your wheels? What is your goal? Do you want the biggest rim possible? Or the widest? Or are you after that "muscle car" look - skinnies in the front and fat, meaty tires in the back?

Tell us what ya want and we can help you out from there...
