Default A/C controll question

My and A/C blows cold and my heat is fine as well but it wont work unless i have the (for lack of a better word) "intensity" set to the 3rd or 4th dot. does any one know what could be broken? thanks in advance

Similiar problem with my 01'. AC blower only works on high. Have swapped motors, not it! I changed the dash control selector/switch, nope, not it either! I'm hearing about a resistor but not sure of location or what to do with it, replace it, hit it(as others state), test it with a meter? Anyone want to chime on in here for us?

i know that sometimes the heater/a/c gets stuck on defrost.. and that problem is caused by a leaking vacuum hose.. possibly a similar problem for the intensity? though thinking about it more i get the feeling itd probably be an electrical problem

Good news boys and girls! AC is working properly again. Replaced blower motor resistor with new one from O Reilly. Located under the dash behind glovebox, cost about 20 bucks. Thought you might like to know.

took me all of 10 mins to get to the resistor (my Haynes repair manual helped me) and sure enough, its one big rust ball and one of the wires has snapped off. advance auto is over night shipping me a new one for $20.13. thank you all for your help
