Default Windstar Intake kit

Im looking at the Windstar Intake kit from VAP Auto. It says it increases horsepower and everything and looks pretty cool under the hood. Its also $395... is it really worth paying the 395 or would i be better off saving money on a CAI kit rather than the Windstar kit?

Look at the sticky thread at the top of V6 Tech called "Windstar Intake Swap Questions? Look Here"...

From what I've read it kinda seems like there isn't much of a power increase, unless you count the added 500rpms and the weight reduction... the way stalkerstang has it set up, he's also using a CAI in conjunction with it...

Probably not the easiest way to go, but it sure does make it look cool as hell if you cut out the hood the way he did

at that price it may or may not be worth it if you do it with parts u pull from a junkyard and such im sure you could do it for much cheaper.. the idea of using the kit is that you have every single part that you need in perfect condition.. so its your call..

its a 5-10hp difference between the stock mustang engine and the windstar.. and a 15-20ft lb boost in torque.. i dont know if thats worth $395 to you

I think I have about or just under $100 into mine, including buying the intake.

And I didn't use used parts other then the intake and TB. The VAP kit uses a used intake and a used throttle body (your throttle body to be exact).

Only real benefit to the VAP kit over a DIY kit would be the hood clearance because of the relocated IAC valve.

That and all the parts included, if thats worth $300 to you.

Either way, good luck with it, and when its done post up so we can check it out.
