Default 1999 V6 Engine Vibration at Low RPM???

I have a 1999 V6 that has recently created an engine vibration. It's only noticable around 1000 RPMs, no more no less. It is not a studder like a miss or anything like that. It feels like a harmonic vibration of some kind. It only does it around 1000 RPM and it happens regardless of being in gear or in park/neutral so I've ruled out from the transmission back. What are some other things to check or look at? It didn't happen all of a sudden. It was created gradually over a month or so.

The rotating assembly could be out of ballance some how....drain your oil...and see if you have a bunch of metal filings in it...more then usual at least.

maybe it simply vibrates at noticable frequency at 1000rpms... possibly built up over time due to weakening motor mounts? (just a theory... picked up on Stargate Atlantis ) but seriously, how sturdy r the motor mounts?

Could an exhast problem cause this? A friend of mine says my exhaust needs to be redone because it has a leak and it's not suspended correctly.

I guess the pressure made by the engine through the exhaust at 1k rpms might make that sound... now that I think about it... that makes a lot of sense... not saying that's your problem... but if you're exhaust is leaky, that needs to be fixed anyway... so fix it and let us know if it kills your harmonic-vibration problem
