Default 1995 3.8 liter Mustang Stroker kits?

I drive a 1995 3.8 Liter mustang, looking to stroke it, are there kits out there that will allow me to stroke it to a 4.2L or i have even heard whisperings of a 4.6L stroker kit, any idea on P&A on this?

The most you'll get from a stroker kit out of your 3.8L V6 OHV Essex is 4.4L. If you have the cylinders bored out, get over-sized pistons, and a stoker kit, you may be able to get a bit more.

I wouldn't recommend stroking beyond 4.2L on our engine, however. It's not always about more displacement... It would cost just at much to make a light-turbo 3.8/4.2 with more power than a bored and stroked 4.whatever.

This is similar to the first question I ever posted on here, and that is the best and most useful information I received from it.

So with the stroker kit, i was thinking of domed piston heads for better compression. any other thoughts?

if you go Domed Piston for higher compression then do not supercharge it.

If i were you i would go with forged internals. You can find them on the same site with the strocker kits from super six motorsports.

Tom Morana makes good stroker kits, too. May be a little cheaper and better than SSM. The SSM PowerPaks are great, from what I hear.

Higher compression is NOT better compression. Depending upon your choice of cam, higher compression MAY be necessary. You want a static compression of no less than 8.5 with a dynamic compression of no more than 8.5. These numbers will never be equal; static will always be higher than dynamic.

And a 7.5 in. rear end is not going to hold up well to the extra torque of a stroker and many burnouts. Either way, a 7.5 in. "posi" is about $300. Installation fees vary(You need to have this done by a shop. Only shops have the proper equipment to calibrate differentials.). The end cost will likely be equal to or greater than getting a brand new 8.8 in. rear end.

A brand new 8.8 in. rear (This is the whole thing, minus the axle shafts, not just a differential.) is around $800. It's much stronger than the 7.5 in. rear end. You also won't waste a dollar on shop fees!

gears should definitely be done by a shop however simply doing the LSD is doable by the home mechanic.. theres even a nice writeup how to do it

Can someone explain what they mean by the recommendation table on the powerpack page?
