Default 1995 3.8 litre high idle 2000 rpms

i have a 1995 3.8 litre mustang that idles at 2000 rpms when i push in the clutch to come to a stop after about 15 seconds it goes back to normal but if i even tap the gas it will shoot back up to 2000 rpms any ideas on what could be the cause of this? when i start the car from cold it idles normal but after running about 30 seconds it idles high.

Possibly try checking the idle, and try changing it. The idle can be changed (On my car at least) by turning a screw that is pushing down on the throttle on top of the engine. You know the thing that you can turn with your hand to make the engine rev? On my V6 there's a screw on that, you can turn it to change how much throttle the car is always giving.
