I want to change the plugs on a 94 . Also have a few shorts to ground on the coils apparantly. Is there anything out of norm to change the plugs?
Also what is required to be done to get acces to the coil packs?
I am an electrician and was considering finding the short and repairing bad insulation, but part of me says not to waste time and just swap out all spark plug wires.
Any advice appreciated.
I used to have a '96 and I was going to do this. I don't recall anything out of the norm for changing them, its a pretty straight forward job. One coil pack can be found on the left hand side of the engine, but I will check and see if a link to this info can be found- and if so I'll post it on this thread.
It would seem that the trickiest thing when working with the coils is not accessing them, but making sure you successfully are able to remove the wiring. Seems there's a little nut on the head of each plug that hold the wire down, and it is a pain to remove. Good luck.
that wont really help much the engine in that 99 doesnt have a single coilpack like our 3.8's do.. it has a coil on each plug so its a little different.. the coil pack is on the drivers side of the engine mounted on/near the upper intake the spark plug wires all plug into it.. what exactly are you trying to do with it again?
just make sure you do everything right. If you dont know the firing order just change the plugs one at a time... spark plug gap is 0.55 and i would just buy the champion copper plugs
and as for the ignition coil pack...there should be like a capacitor or a thing that is shaped like a cylinder grounded to ur ignition coil pack
When changing plugs on my car it recommended double platinum champions if that is what you want idk if your year would recomemmend the same or not my self i would go with autolite or NGK and make sure to use anti sezie on the treads of the plugs when putting them back in.
