2003 Mustang V6 Start-up Issue

I went in to a store earlier today and returned about 40 minutes later. I attempted to start my car, and nothing happened. I assumed it was caused by the ipod radio connector that I forgot to take out of the cigarette lighter. I try to jump the car, and it starts up. I start to drive away to pull out of the parking lot and my theft light is illuminated. Also, as I try to accelerate I can feel the car alternating between accelerating, and not accelerating as well as being able to hear a clicking noise that is accompanying it. It felt like it was stalling out. I attempted to jump it about 3 more times, and each time I received the same result. I couldn't keep the car running enough to get it back home so it's sitting in the parking lot still right now. What do you think the problem may be? Thanks in advance for the help.

edit: Also, the car is completely stock.

bad connections with the battery terminals to the red or black connectors. take the connectors off, clean them and put em back on and tighten em down

since the theft light is on ,if the key has a transponder it can be the problem too, it is in a small cap at the plastic end of the key , try whith a second key if you have it make sure the key did not get wet or it can be the resistor between the key cilinder and the starter, if the key does not have a transponder and the car has a factory alarm check the harness and all the connections.

2nd key didn't work, don't know whether it's because I have a stock alarm system or maybe I misunderstood. Thanks for the input everyone. It's getting towed to the dealer as I speak and Im going to try disconnecting the battery once I get it to the dealer since they don't open until tomorrow. My dad suspects it may be my alternator.

hey how are you doin i know whats the problem with your car i had this happen to me your altinator is fucket if you liv somewhere in toronto i can help you i got a brend new one siting in my shop i have the knowlege to instal that its prety easy what i sagest is you go to your car and take the altirnator out take it to canadian tire or anywher you can check if it charging canadian tire does it for free if its charging then put it back in and put a different batery most time the theft light will come on because your batery was so dead that the car thinks its been disconected what you do is press lock 2times then unlock 3 times but you have to do that when you have a conected fully charged battery email me at clipse8923@hotmail.com and i can help if u need it to everyone elsy this is what an owner of a mustang will do for another owner of a mustang lol
