Question 1997 Mustang Rear Axle 8.8 Swap

Originally I wanted to tlock and get 3.73's on my 7.5" axle, but I have been reading and it looks like people say its better to just do an axle swap. So I was wondering, would this axle just swap in with no adapters or anything?

79-98 Axle Assembly, 8.8"" 3.73:1 28-Spline Traction-Lok at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

In my opinion I would not swap for another 28 spline axle. Go with the 31 spline. That is if it is available.
I still run my 7.5" with 3.73's and just ran 11.57 without breaking it. I am sure I will find the limit of what it can handle but it wasn't as weak as I thought.

With the right differential the 7.5" can usually handle up to 400hp. If your rear end needs a rebuild or the car is just old then it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do the 8.8" swap but otherwise it doesn't really matter.
