Default what to put in new engine

ok guys, im getting my engine rebuilt soon hopefully and its gonna cost $1800 for the rebuild, but the mech only wants the engine block not the whole car so i aslo have to pay for someone to take it out and put it back in, so prolly another $1000. i know i want new cam, i like the comps cams but unsure of which is the best of them all. the mech can port my heads for $300 - $600 and im going with ported all the way for $600. i also want some forged pistons, Wisco makes some i belive for $800 or so. what else should i get put in my engine?

Why would you put forged pistons/rods if your not going to be running boost or nitrous?

i was planning on ether running nitrous or a turbo or a procharger a year or 2 down the road and i would want to have to have the engine taken apart just for forged piston

are your looking for little things that make a difference?
when i was going to build my motor i was going to get a windage tray to keep the oil in the oil pan splashing up on the crank and slowing it down i think its in jegz for about 50-60 bucks. i've heard it makes a difference so you could try it. i am when i rebuild my motor.

Are you staying 3.8, or going 4.2. Bottom ends run about $3k done properly. Crank, rods, pistons, bearings, studs, etc. If he is porting your heads, is he installing larger valves? A cam is about $350.00, push rods $100.00, rockers run about $450.00, and springs $150.00. This is without touching the upper/lower intakes or machining your heads to accommodate the springs, new oil pump $100.00, timing set $100.00, etc. This is not including machine shop work, or balancing the whole rotating assembly. you cannot build a performance motor to stock specs. Clearances need to be different or your motor will not oil properly. That's why motors are so expensive to build.

Just some food for thought.....

ive been intrested in in the whole 4.2 swap but my dad wants it to be the same motor. isnt there a new crank out there somewhere that bumbs it to a 4.3l? i can affor the whole forged everything right now so that will have to be done in a few years when i am getting paid more . i was thinking along the lines of new cam and port and polished heads. what othere thing can you add to the engine to increase hp and tq? could someone tell me about how much each part would actually help. thanks, you guys are like car tech wizzesi love the animations on here they are very creative

In my opinion Turbo or Twin turbo is the way to go.

ive heard its was very expensive to change from a v6 to a v8 but if i did it would be a cobra engine or a mach 1, or any 4v v8 would do lol. i would just put a turbo on it and run 6-8 psi but my dad says the engine has to be rebuilt before anything else is done to the car, so while its apart why not make it better?

whats the best way to increase hp and tq when modding the engine itself, like p & p or stroker kits or what?
