Default 2001 ford mustang fuel pump

where exactly is it... i know its in the tank but do i have to drop the tank to replace this?

Yes. You don't have to pull the tank completely out. Just drop it down far enough to remove the bolts and pull out assembly. The pump is small cylinder on the assembly. However if you get a new pump from a dealership they typically give you the whole assembly. Which is easier to replace but a lot more expensive. I usually just buy a pump from another store since Ford fuel pumps don't typically last a very long time anyway.

yea my father baught the whole assebly from advance so yea it was pricey...around 200...

Ouch!!! You could have upgraded to a Focus 310lph pump for $100.00 or so..... The tank needs to be dropped. You need to remove the filler tube first by removing the bolts inside your flap, there are also some up under the tube by the filler neck, then you can loosen the straps and drop the tank. You will have to remove the fuel line first, and all electrical connections while dropping the tank. Make sure you do not rupture the rubber gasket on the filler neck, or you will have to get one at a dealer. Put some grease on the filler tube when you put it back together so the neck will slide into the tank and not rupture the gasket. It will also seal better. The tank drops down and to the left for easiest removal......
