Default Squeaking in 2002 Mustang v-6 5 speed

Hey guys, im sorta new to the mustang world. I bought mine bout 4 months ago during the summer. It's a 2002 v-6 mineral gray 5-speed stick shift. It is my first car and i Love it.

However, i am having problems with a squeaking noise coming from my engine when it is on. It does it when it idle and driving. We changed my fan belt and that wasnt the problem. I think it might have something to do with the clutch. Because when ever i have the cluth in it wont make the sound. The clutch doesn't even have to be all the way down u can barely press on it and it will quit making the noise, but when you let go of the clutch it will squeak again. Also sometime the clutch pedal can like get loose. Like if you hit a bump or something it will start rattling. SO i put my foot under it and pick it up all the way and it will stop doing it for a bit. Like when i let go of the clutch after shifting sometime it wont go all the way up and it will start rattling. SO any suggestions on what it might be?

Sounds like a bad release bearing (throwout bearing) to me.

How many miles are on it? Perhaps it is time to drop the transmission, inspect the clutch disc and replace the pilot bearing and release bearing.

if you replace it yourself, like $20 bucks... but if you go to the trouble of replacing it, (which involves dropping the exhaust, driveshaft, transmission) then you may as well replace the clutch, pilot bearing, rear main seal, and resurface/replace the flywheel.

So replacing all that will stop my cluth pedal from vibrating and engine squeaking? Thank you for the replies. O and sometimes whenever i put it in first when at a stop or stopping it will resist going into first gear but it will go in. And sometimes its hard as hell to get it into reverse when i first turn on car and need to back up.

difficulty shifting into 1st & reverse is a sign that your clutch is about done...

you're not hearing any grinding into any gears, are you?

i'd start thinking about replacing the clutch then; unusual, though... 65K is awful soon to be needing a clutch.

I found that when you are trying to go into first and it is not letting you just keep pressure on the stick going into first and just lift the clutch petal off the floor a little and it should go right in with out trying to jam it in, thats what worked for me i just dont remember doing it to reverse though you could try it
