So I've decided to install a H pipe dual exhaust system on my 95. I'm buying a V6 H pipe adapter kit from American muscle and will probably go with the Pypes catback duals they sell on that site as well. What I would like to know is realistically how much horsepower can I expect to gain from doing this. American muscle says up to 20 but that sound a little too good to be true. What do u guys think?
The H pipe usually cuts out around 3000 rpms, where the exhaust gases are flowing to fast to go threw the connector, if you really wanna connect your pipes go with an x pipe.
Why would anyone want to add an H versus a true divorced duals setup? Is there any true benefit from this? Most of the exhaust guys I talked to said an H or X is unnecessary, and the one I chose for the work cut the pipes after the cats, and connected seperate mufflers and tailpipes with no interaction between the two.

there is no real benefit of having h versus divorced.. the crossover isnt necessary
My 98 came with the setup you're wanting with the H pipe. I too have been told there is no reason for this. No performance gain just more noise in town. When mine gets redone I'll be getting rid of the H. Runem straight.
Well the reason I want the H because have yet to see a site that sells divorsed pipe and unless I want to pay way much more for a custom job I don't think I will go for that. But anyway I wasn't asking how much extra horsepower I with the H compared to straights, but I want to know how much HP gains can I expect by simply replacing my stock exhaust with an H pipe true.. surly its not 0 as some people on this thread have said

Custom jobs are actually a lot cheaper.
Around here, a local shop will fabricate a set of divorced duals for $350-$450.
Check into your local muffler shops.

they say 20hp because it was tessted via motor dyno.
you might get anywhere between 2-4hp out of the pipe.
and as far as the crossover. there is about the same gain as a h or x. people around here only do it on there six becuase it can make a better tone then the next dual system.
