Default 7.5 to 8.8 swap. 99

Im looking into swapping my stock 7.5 rearend for a mach 1 8.8 rear end. The mach 1 because it has the larger rear brakes. What all would I need to do this?? I mean everything. Cables, bolts, etc...

Thanks for all info.

Big waste of money, 90% of braking is on the front brakes, if you want quicker gears, just change those

i dont think this has anything to do with gears..cuz one he said bigger breaks..and 2 the 8.8 is alot stronger then the 7.5 rear end

You would need to use your brakes. The Mach's have larger calipers and rotors. Other than that, it is a straight swap......

Ok so would I need the control arms that come with this rear end or not??

MUSTANG 03 04 MACH 1 8.8 REAR END AXLE COBRA 01 BULLITT:eBay Motors (item 110448975194 end time Nov-01-09 16:22:29 PST)

Or would something like this be sufficient??

03 04 Mustang Mach 1 3.55 8.8 Rear End Axle 01 Billett :eBay Motors (item 180420344602 end time Oct-25-09 17:25:06 PDT)

I had thought about just getting gears and a t-lock but I think this would be a better way to go because I would like to eventually supercharge my sixer.

It is still going to run you $1k with shipping. Find a local junkyard instead, or put out feelers for local shops to keep an eye out for you. We can find used 8.8's around here for about $150-200.......

Please read my post above again. Straight swap......

Ok just making sure. Yea I dont plan on getting either one of those I pointed out just used for reference.

So what do you guys think?? Should I continue on my search for a mach 1 rear end or buy some 3.73 gears and a t-lock.
What do you think would be more beneficial and why?? Thanks for the info thus far.
