Default New here, vibration question!

Hey guys,
Just bought a 2000 white vert AT V6 with 97k miles on it.

The car runs fine, but seems to struggle a bit in acceleration, as well as vibrates when I am accelerating. It is nothing bad, sort of feels like the vibration from a higher HP car.

I had it checked at Autozone as I had the check engine light come on, but the only code they got was for condensation, which he said was from a bad gas cap.

After searching the forum, I noticed that some people are finding bad spark plugs while others suggest new torque converters. Would codes come up if either of those were necessary?

Tires are pretty new. The car does vibrate a little at idle and even if I shift into neutral when getting off the highway.

I appreciate all your help fellas!

welcome to the site! do you have an exhaust leak? becuase you could be getting vibrations from that. or, hows your tranny fluid looking? its possible it could be from that as well. as for the codes, i dont really know but im sure some one else on this is site would know.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the quick reply man! Any idea how I would check for an exhaust leak? I can hear the engine upon acceleration a bit more that I thought I would.

Where is the dipstick for the tranny fluid?

Thanks again!

any time! and if you have an exhaust leak, you should hear a ticking noise and a 1/3 can of sea foam in a vacuum line would definitely tell you if you had one or not. and the dip stick for the tranny is right up againt the fire wall around where your air intake is. if your exhaust is fine and your tranny fluid is ok (your supposed to change it every 30,000 miles but i dont know the last time yours was changed) i would recommend putting your car in neutral, turning off the engine, jacking up the back half of your car then spinning the tires. if you start to hear a strange noise, its time to replace your bearings (bad bearing can cause vibration as well)

Has any work or replacement of parts been done to this motor/tranny? If not, replace the fuel filter and clean the mass air sensor.....

So I just got the code for check engine: p0455 - large evap e
issions leak.
I'm guessing this is the culprit of my vibrations when on the throttle. How do I fix it? (already got a new gas cap)

thank you guys!

so according to my Haynes repair guide, that means your Evaporative Emissions Control System (EECS) is messed up. so the book says to check the area around the carbon canister for kinks in the hose or even replace the canister, but i have no real-life experience with the EECS so i hope someone else on here can help you. you might want to even want to post a new thread asking for help with your EECS. as for your lawyer, michaign doesnt have emission laws (thank god) so i cant help you much there either. good luck!

Thanks Matt! Does it show in the manual where the carbon canister is?
